Currently in private beta. This site explains the planned credit model and current service. It does not sell credits or offer a public App Store download. Your rights under applicable consumer law remain unchanged.

Using Painted In

These terms describe use of the Painted In website and private beta service. Painted In is an independent app for creating personal AI-assisted adaptations of paintings and viewing or displaying saved work. The private beta is intended for adults.

Features and availability may change during testing. A beta invitation does not guarantee continued access, a public release date, support for a particular TV model, or a particular result. Keep your own exported copies of artwork you want to preserve.

For an App Store release, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app license unless a different applicable license is supplied. These service terms do not replace Apple’s terms or your mandatory consumer rights.

Your photos and permission

Upload only content you own or have permission to use and share with the services needed to create your painting. Obtain appropriate permission from the people depicted and from a parent or guardian for a child’s photos.

You authorize the processing needed to carry out your requested creation, including sharing selected photos, subject names, and creation instructions with OpenAI as described in our Privacy Policy. These terms are not a substitute for the explicit photo-sharing permission the app must obtain.

Do not use Painted In to create unlawful, exploitative, abusive, or deceptive content; infringe another person’s rights; or misrepresent an adaptation as evidence of a real event. Do not attempt to bypass payment checks, service limits, or other users’ access controls.

AI-generated results

Results are artistic interpretations. Likeness, pose, composition, clothing, and style can vary, and requested details may not appear as intended. We do not guarantee an exact likeness, identical results across attempts, or that a result is unique.

Review a painting before sharing or displaying it. Present it as a personalized adaptation rather than an original work by the source artist. A museum credit identifies the source artwork and does not imply the museum endorsed your adaptation or Painted In.

Credits and included redos

Credits are used for new creations. Each creation includes one redo using the same source painting and selected subjects. Changing the source painting or subjects starts a new creation.

Credits do not expire. Viewing, exporting, sharing, sending, and rotating saved paintings use no credits. A technical generation failure does not consume a generation allowance. An unsuccessful likeness is a quality issue rather than necessarily a technical failure.

Balances and purchases are verified by the service. Testing access or support remedies are not cash, a transferable balance, or proof of an App Store purchase.

Quality support and refunds

If a likeness needs work, use the included redo. If a specific problem remains, you can submit an in-app support report and choose whether to attach reference images. Reports are reviewed manually. An approved remedy adds one creation allowance, displayed as 5 credits; approval is not automatic and a creation can receive at most one approved remedy.

A support credit is different from a refund of an App Store payment. For an App Store refund, use Apple’s refund request process. Eligibility and handling depend on Apple and applicable law. We do not promise that every refund request will be approved.

Support for the current beta is available through your invitation contact and the app’s report flow. See Support for practical steps.

Rights in photos and artwork

We do not claim ownership of the photos you upload. You retain the rights you already hold, and permit the processing necessary to provide the features you request.

Source paintings and museum images remain subject to their applicable rights and source terms. The app’s collection uses works identified as eligible for public-domain or open-access reuse. Rights may differ by country, and a source image’s availability does not grant rights to a person’s likeness, trademarks, or other protected material.

You retain any rights applicable law gives you in your contributions and results. We do not promise exclusive ownership, copyright eligibility, or clearance for every commercial use of AI-generated output. Consider the source and your intended use before distributing a result.

Devices and service availability

Painted In is designed for iPhone. Frame delivery needs a compatible Samsung Frame TV and a local network that permits the devices to communicate. You may need to approve pairing on the TV.

TV behavior depends on model, firmware, network conditions, and device permissions. Shortcuts and WidgetKit are managed by iOS; a schedule or widget refresh is not a guarantee of exact timing or live TV status. Supported compatibility claims are still being validated in beta.

Generation requires an internet connection and available service capacity. Interruptions can occur. Local saved artwork should be exported if you need an independent backup. Some beta features require Apple capabilities not available in every preview build.

Fair use and service changes

We may apply reasonable usage limits, pause generation, or restrict access to protect users, service integrity, or legal obligations. Do not interfere with the service, submit unauthorized payment records, or use another person’s account.

We may change beta features or these terms as the product develops. Material changes will be identified in an updated version. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Questions

For the current private beta, contact the person or channel that supplied your invitation. The Support page explains creation, payment, TV, and privacy help. Public operator and support details will be finalized before public release.
